ABOUT THE FARM.
Located in the Gedeb district, Worka Chelbesa is one of the best coffee-producing areas within the renowned Gedeb Woreda. Known for its dense, layered semi-forest vegetation, including false banana trees and shade-grown coffee plants, Chelbesa exemplifies the ideal agroecology for coffee cultivation.
In 2019, SNAP Specialty Coffee built a washing station in Chelbesa village. The goal was to source exclusively red cherries from nearby farmers. This ambition was realized upon completion of the project. The fermentation tanks are built of ceramic, a choice that enhances both the clarity of the coffee and the efficiency of fermentation by retaining heat within the ceramic structure.
